The Victorian District sits just south of Forsyth Park, bounded roughly by East Broad Street, Gwinnett Street, and Victory Drive. Developed in the late 1800s as street railways expanded south of downtown, the neighborhood’s 165 acres and 50 blocks were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 for their concentration of Victorian and Queen Anne homes.

Living in the Victorian District
Homes here were built mostly between 1870 and 1910, and the architecture shows it — turrets, towers, bay windows, decorative ironwork, ornate brackets and cornices are common throughout the neighborhood. It’s one of Savannah’s most walkable neighborhoods, ranked “Very Walkable” by WalkScore, with Forsyth Park itself partly situated within the district’s boundaries.
The mix of restored Victorian-era homes and its proximity to downtown, SCAD, and Forsyth Park’s farmers market and events make it a popular alternative to the pricier Historic District proper, while still offering that same historic character and walk-everywhere lifestyle.
